The C-130H Air Data System
This type-certified, solid-state air data system replaces 19 different part numbers with just four new ones and eliminates 11 LRUs. Exceptional accuracy and quadruple redundancy contribute toward the systemís RVSM compliance (North Atlantic and Free Flight), as well as easy meter/foot switchability for flight in Eastern Europe and other metric airspace.

System Components
Central Air Data Computer (one)
• Replaces existing electromechanical TAS computer.
• Replaces 12 autopilot and airspeed limit sensors.
• Communicates via dual 1553B data bus.
• Supports user systems through multiple ARINC 429 and RS232 data busses.
• Supplies 15 analog signals to the flight director and autopilot.
• Accuracy: 10 ft @ 50,000 ft.
• MTBF: 46,000 hours (100x improvement).

Solid-State Airspeed Indicators (three)
• Analog airspeed to 400 kts, with pointer.
• Digital airspeed from 30 knots to 499 knots.
• Digital display of true airspeed or groundspeed.
• Maximum allowable airspeed (VMO/MMO).
• Accuracy: ±3 kts > 100 kts.
• MTBF: 37,000 hours (70x improvement).
• Optional functions:
—Windshear alert with trend display.
—Takeoff monitor.
—Angle of attack display.

Solid-State Altimeters (three)
• RVSM compliant accuracy, 30 ft at 30,000 ft.

The C-130H Engine Instruments
IS&S replaces the previous 32 electromechanical engine instruments and eight part numbers with a solid-state system of 24 indicators and two part numbers.
• Type I instrument analyzes input signals and automatically changes function for slot in which it is placed to serve as RPM indicator, torque indicator, temperature indicator, and fuel flow indicator.
• Pin programming selects engine type (-7, -9, -15, or -16).
• Can be retrofit to other aircraft types, such as P3.
• Type II instrument displays five independent oil parameters, including pressure, temperature, quantity, and cooler flap. Pin programming in redundant configu- ration eliminates eight display positions and four part numbers.
• Same instrument can change function to serve as universal hydraulic quantity and pressure indicator.

The C-130H Fuel Quantity Indicators
A proprietary digital gauging tech- nique for fuel quantity measurement and indication enables IS&S to reduce the number of instruments required.
• Single part number serves both indicator and totalizer functions.
• C-130 indicator is derived from model retrofit to several commercial airline fleets.
• Same indicator automatically changes function and serves as liquid oxygen indicator, replacing four separate part numbers with one.
• Indicator modes include: fuel quantity, fuel totalizing, fuel quantity/maintenance action required, and liquid oxygen quantity.
• All indicators provide sophisticated, built-in diagnostics and retain overall temperature or out-of-limit operating conditions in non-volatile memory, aiding ground crews and maintenance teams.
